POLITICAL HANDBOOK.
USEFUL PUBLICATION. The Council of Foreign Relations of New York has published, through the Yale University Press, a revised and enlarged edition of its " Political Handbook of the World," first published last year. i'his is a comprehensive survey of the parliaments, parties and press of the world, from Albania to Venezuela. It gives brief particulars of the rulers and the governments in power as at January 1, 1929, of the party programmes and their bearers, and has lists of the leading newspapers, their political affiliations, and their proprietors and editors. It is a handy and most useful publication. If a third edition of the handbook is published it should be brought more up to date. The oditors' claim that its reliability i- unquestioned is not qnite accurately based The New Zealand United Party leaders may bo "Sir Joseph Ward. George William Forbes, and Mr, W. A. Veitch," but the Reform Party leaders do not now include, " W. Nosworthy and R. F. Bollard." ;
