TURKISH PRESS EFFORTS. HOAX IN SWITZERLAND. Every year on April 1 tho Turkish press delights to publish fantastic stories, and more than once journalists' representing foreign newspapers have been deceived and have telegraphed these works of imagination to their journals. The best efforts' this year aro tho following:— America and England have declared war, and fighting is going ,on .in CaDada. Trotsky. who is staying in Constantinople, lias become converted to the Moslem rchThe American Admiral Dayton, commanding the cruiser Raleigh, at -present lyias ot Constantinople, has caught a. fish lo yards long, which h° ha v presented to the Turkish admiral. Thousands of people were hoaxed by a Swiss newspaper at Geneva which printed, an account of a sensational reappearance in Berne of Captain Alfred Lowenstein, the Belgian financier who mysteriously disappeared while flying over the English Channel. It was only after a numbor of people had xlephoned to the newspaper in question that they remembered the date—April 1.
