RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT. THE WAR MEMORIAL SCHEME. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAEROA, Friday. A proposal has been made by the Mayor of Paeroa, Mr. W. Marshall, to raise approximately £3OOO for the relief of unemployment at, Paeroa. It is proposed to use the money on various borotlgh improvement works and also ih the erection of a war memorial on Primrose Hill. As a result of requests from a section of the people for the substitution ©f a utilitarian scheme for a war memorial in place of a monument, it was decided at a meeting of the promoters of the fund last evening to devote a portion of the funds to the erection in brick of a rest room near the Paeroa public library.
