PICTURES FOR CHILDREN.
DEVELOPMENT OF SCHEME. The scheme for a children's picture theatre, in which the Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson have taken such a keen interest, will come into operation next week. Their Excellencies regard this simple beginning, the cooperation of parents and exhibitors, as a matter of real importance. It is intended to provide the best the screen has to offer which is most suited to children.
The Fuller-llayward Company has chosen the Lyric Theatre for the purpose. The programmes for the matinees are arranged by the Better Films League. A panel of representatives acting for tho council of this society will choose the films at private screenings. As the tastes of its members are varied, and there is a wide raggo of material to choose from, the type of programme will vary from "Week to week. _ Tho scheme is on a broad basis for u uro development, and the management es assured that the public will give H. earnest support.
