ALTERATION OF A ROUTE.
PROTEST MADE BY RESIDENTS.
[BI TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Thursday. Dissatisfaction with the change in the routes of the Claudelands bus service was expressed by 123 residents who petitioned tho No. 4 Licensing Authority (the Hamilton Borough Council) last evening. The petitioners entered an emphatic protest against tho alteration of the FairfieldHamilton bus route from O'Neill Street, River Road, Oakley Avenue and Boundary Road to Grey Street, and urged the authority to reconsider the matter. It was stated that many residents were inconvenienced by the change. On behalf of the bus company concerned it was stated that tho old service did not pay and that the present service suited many of tho petitioners. On the company agreeing to run one service to and from town along the old route in tho afternoons no further action was taken. HAMILTON TO CAMBRIDGE. COMPLAINT ABOUT TIMETABLE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, ] HAMILTON, Thursday. Complaint that a service car driver running between Hamilton and Cambridge, Mr. C. F. Trethowen, had not complied with the timetable approved by the Transport Appeal Board, was received by the No. 4 Licensing Authority (the Hamilton Borough Council) last evening.
It, was decided to ask the driver concerned to show causo why his authority to conduct the service should not be revoked. It was also decided to take action against another service car driver for running a bus service on tbo samo route allegedly without complying with the Hamilton Borough by-laws.
