AIR BOMBING COMEDY.

CONTRETEMPS IN FRANCE. BUILDINGS COLLAPSE TOO SOON. Australian Press Association—United Service (Received May 23, 11.15 p.m.) PARIS. May 22. An amusing contretemps occurred at an air pageant at Vincennes, which had been arranged to stimulate interest in aviation. Thousands of spectators were attracted. After a very realistic display the aviators announced that by way of a conclusion they would bomb an improvised "town," which had been specially constructed. As a matter of fact no bombs were used. The arrangement was that the aeroplanes should circle over the place at a low altitude and that simultaneously the buildings should collapse on hinges amid clouds of artificial smoke. The buildings would thus be available for later performances. Unfortunately owing to a misunderstanding on the part of the ground staffs the aeroplanes were miles away when the "town" collapsed and the display ended to the accompaniment of general laughter.
