HONOUR FROM BELGIUM.
AWARD TO MR. FERGUSON.
LONG SERVICE AS CONSUL.
The award of the Order of Leopold, has been conferred upon Mr. A. M. Ferguson, Belgian Consul in Auckland, by King Albert of Belgium as a recognition of his long and faithful services to that country. Mr. Ferguson, who is deputy-dean of the consular corps in Auckland, is a partner and director of John Burns and Company, Ltd.
Mr. Ferguson has already been the recipient of a Belgian decoration, having been created a Chevalier de Couronne de Belgique. Shortly after the war the French Government conferred on Mr. Ferguson tha French gratitude medal, the Reconnaissance Francaise.
Two orders of Leopold exist in Belgium, one created in 1852 by Leopold 1., which is divided into five classes, and the other created by Leopold 11. The ribbon for the first is purple'and red, while that foi the second is blue with a black stripe in the centre.
