HODGE TROPHY COMPETITION. There was a fair attendance of shooterii at the Auckland Gun Club'B grounds on Saturday when a series of matches was held, Unfavourable conditions prevailed, a strong wind blowing, making shooting harder than usual The first seven-bird match was won by W H. Hazard (!4yds), with the possible. J. Donnelly (16), F. H. Hazard (1-1), I. Lomasi (12). and F. E. McKenzie (12), tied for second money with 6. The two firstnamed divided after a shoot-ofl. The second match was won by A. E. Macredie (19y'ds), with the possible. J. Don. nelly (16) and F. H. Hazard (14) again dividing second money. The chief match for Mr. C. E .Hodge'is trophy was won outright by A. E. Macredie (19yds), with tho possible of 15, all first barrels, a splendid performance. F. H. Seccombo (IGyds) and J. Donnelly (16yds) divided second money with 14 each. The next seven-bird match was won outright by F. H. Seccombe (16yds), with tho possible. W. 11. Hazard (14), R. H. Bartley (13), and I. Lomas (11yds), "divided second money with 6 eaclj. The final match was won by A, E. Macredio (20yds), with the possible, J. Donnelly (16) being second with 0. Tho club's winter shoot will be held on Wednesday week, when Mr. C. H. Dryadale's trophy will bo competed for.
