TALLYMEN'S AWARD.
AMENDMENTS BY COURT. A reserved judgment of the Arbitration Court or.i an application by tho Auckland Tallymen's Industrial Union of Workers, heard at the last Auckland sittings of the Court, makes several amendments to tho tallymen's award. Clause 2 of the award is deleted and replaced by a provision that the award shall apply to all casual workers perform, ing the duties of tallymen. Permanent tallymen substantially employed as such may bo engaged at a wago of £4 10s a week- It is stipulated that nothing in the award shall apply to permanent employees who, although not substantially employed as tallymen arc occasionally put on to do tallying work. Meal hours shall be any one hour between tho following limits:—Breakfast, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.: dinner, 12 noon to 2 p.m.; lea, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: supper, 10 p.m. to midnight. Tho award conies into force to-day. Mr. Monteith dissents from the provision fixing meal hours between twphourly limits on the ground that this is a transfer of meal hours without additional remuneration.
