LAND SETTLEMENT.
ACTIVITY OF THE LEAGUE. A further meeting of the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League, following upon the recent conference with members of Parliament, was held on Friday. It was decided to coordinate all information available as to % land suitable for settlement and to place ifc in the hands of members of Parliament. A letter from the Bay of branch gave details of an area of 40,000 acres of Crown land which was considered highly suitable for development at a cost of from £5 to £6 an acre. It was estimated it would carry 400 to 500 families. Mr H R Jenkins, M.I. for Parnsll, expressed the opinion that areas set aside for afforestation purposes should be examined as to their suitability tor .aiming usage. . • I-;-.
