A STINGRAY CAUGHT.
LARGE SPECIMEN LANDED.
EXCiTEMENT ON THE DIOMEDE. An unusual catch, and one 'which provided plenty of excitement on the cruiser Diomede at Devonport, was . that of a large stingray, which was hooked by Stoker Petty Officer Harper, of the Diomede, about half-past six last evening. Incompany with other'' members of the crew, and using an ordinary line, he was fishing from the forecastle when he hooked the fish.
Interest grew among the crew when the nature of the catch was ascertained. A whaleboafc was launched and a dozen men, armed with hooks of various descriptions, assisted to land the stingray. It was a large one oi considerable span and weighed 2401b.
