DIVIDEND OF 10 PER CENT/ y

ADDITIONS TO RESERVES. The eleventh annual report of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Limited, to ba presented to shareholders on June 5, states that the net profit for the year, after making ample provision for depreciation, bad debts and taxes, is £85,586. To this is added tho balance brought forward from last year, £60,656, and, deducting tho interim dividend paid, £30,000, there remains available for appropriation £116,252. Tho directors recommend payment of a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, for the year and a transfer to reserves of £25,000, leaving a balance to bo carried forward of £61,252. The retiring directors, Sir George Elliot, Messrs. C. Rhodes and li. E. Williams, are nominated for re-election. The marine insni- _ ance account now stands at £32,830, an increase of £2643. In each of the three preceding years, the addition to this reservo was £6611. Including the balance in the profit and loss account, shareholders' funds amount to £824,083,. an increase of £28,050. The only liability is to creditors, including income tax, £58,397, which is less by £11,961, than a year ago. Two years ago tho amount was £104,039; it is now tho lowest for a long period. Tlie valuation of land, plant and other fixed assets has been further reduced by £59,350 to £347,561. Stocks and stores are higher by £10,863 at £76,995, and sundry debtors have increased by £19,632 to £76,582. Wilson Collieries shares and / Government inscribed stock, shown in previous balance-sheets in one sum, arc now entered separately at £49,993 and £272,815 respectively, a total of £322,808, which is £5544 more than last year.
