THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.
ACTIVITY IN BANK SHARES. There was pronounced activity in bank shares on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Government securities and local body debentures were again keenly inquired for, with few quotations by sellers. Auckland Hospital Board debentures, 1947, 5J per cent., sold at £lO2 10s, compared with £lOl at the last local sale in February, 1928. In banks tho preference issue of Commercials of Australia sold again at £7 8s 6d. New Zealands improved another 3d to change hands at 62s 3d. Unions of Australia had sale at £ls lis twico and then were done at £ls lis 6d, compared with £ls 9s at tho last transaction. In insurance New Zealands had sale at the current price of 46s 9d, with further inquiry at that figure, sellers 47s 3d. In shipping Huddart-Parkcrs were done 3d dearer at 45s 6d. In the miscellaneous section Taranaki Oils were done at ss, 5d below the level of the last sale. More were offered at the price, buyers 4s 9d. In mining Mahakipawas had sale_ at Is, gd cheaper than the last transaction. YESTERDAY'S SALES.
