AUCKLAND "TOP DOG."

AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES.;

CRITICISM AT WANGANUI.

[El' TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J WANGANUI, Thursday.

That the Auckland Agricultural Association was "top dog" among the North Island associations was an opinion oxpressed at a meeting of the Wauganui Agricultural Association yesterday. The energy of the Auckland body in seeking to have the Royal Show held there at different periods, and its success in securing Auckland as the venue for the conference of North Island Agricultural Associations to be held in July, were criticised by the president of the Wanganui Association, Mr. Donald Ross. Mr. lloss said the attitude that the Auckland members adopted was a veiy poor one. They had talked nothing but Auckland at the meeting in Palmerston North, and other associations had been simply cut-voted. Mr. J. Hodges said ho had had experience of Auckland. They had a lot ot small shows about the province and were out to win. If the others did not take care "the whole show" would go up there. The secretary, Sir. F. G. Seddon, said Auckland had "so many small agriculturalassociations, some of them in the l'ar North, that they had been giveu the privilege of holding a conference of then own. If they all joined up they would become members of the North. Island con-j ference, and Auckland would out-vote everybody. Mr. Ross: The whole thing in a nutshell is that Auckland is jealous of PaU merston North and wants to "hit chat place on the head." The discussion then lapsed, Mr. Koss remarking that there would be furthei meetings at Palmerston North and tha subject would bo introduced again.
