FLOODS NEAR NAPIER.
MANY ROADS IMPASSABLE.
[BV TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIEE, Tuesday.
Considerable rain during the past 24 hours has swollen the rivers and high seas are causing the water to back up. In consequence the Hooding of low-lying areas adjacent to Napier is threatened if rain does not cease during the night. There was not much promise of that at a late hour. Already the roads in some places are impassable as a result of the overflow from crocks and tlio collection of surface water. A blockage at Meanee Bridge, where the Tutaekuri Stream has risen very high, is causing the water to wash the decking and flow down the approaches toward the hotel, store and the few other buildings situated there. The Napier-Wairoa Road is impassable.
