THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. ACTIVE MARKET CONTINUES. The Auckland Stock Exchange was active y.esterday with sales ranging from Government securities to mining shares. War Loans, 1938, per cent., were done 2s 6d cheaper at £99 17s 6d. Inscribed Stocks, 1938, 4£ per cent., sold 2s 6d. easier at £99 17s 6d. at which price more were offered throughout the day, biiyers £99 10s at the third call. The market generally for Government securities and local body debentures remained firm. In banks the ordinary issue of Commercials of Australia eased another penny, changing hands at 30s Id, and the preference issue was done 6d easier at £7 8s 6d. Unions of Australia had sale at the current price of £ls 9s. There was closing inquiry at £ls 10s, sellers £ls lis. In insurance Australian Provincials again sold fit 10s 3d, and South British advanced 6d, with a late sale at 645. In gas the ordinary issue of Aucklands had sale at 24s 3d, a penny cheaper, and the contributing issue changed hands at 18s 3d, the current price, at which the shares were sought all day, sellers 18s 6d. In timber Kauris made a further advance, selling Is 3d dearer at 20s, with closing inquiry at that figure, sellers advancing from 20s at the morning and noon calls to 20s 9d at the close of the Exchange. , In tho miscellaneous section the ordinary issue of Booth-Macdonalds was done at Is New Zealand Paper Mills sustained their recent advance by selling again at 19s 6d. Taranaki Oils weic done 3d easier at 5s sd. In mining Mount Lyells sold twice at 44s 3d, 3d below tho level of the last sale. YESTERDAY'S SALES.
