DATES FOR RACES.
ATTITUDE OF MINISTER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESI'OXPEN'T. ] HAMILTON. Tuesday. With reference to the protest forwarded \ by Mr. W. Lee Martin, M.P., on behalf of his constituents against the application of the Auckland Trotting Club to race on Labour Dav, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. do la Perrclto, has replied stating that the fixing of dates for race meetings was not within bis province, and suggesting tin *e representation be submitted to the Raqing Conference for consideration. The reply is regarded as important, .as indicating that the, present Minister does not propose to interfere with the fixing of racing dates, as had been done previously.
