FINAL OF CROQUET.
MOUNT LE GRAND CLUB. The Mont Le Grand Croquet Club held its official closing on Saturday in conjunction with a farewell day to Mrs. .Stephenson, ono of the members of the club, who is leaving Auckland to take up her residence in Kotorua. The weather was ideal and progressive croquet was played, for which prizes were donated by Mrs. Hawketi, Mrs. Sessions, Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Truman. Tho A grade prizes were won by Mrs. Thomson and Mrs. Ilawken and tho B grade by Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Tremain. Mr. White, president of the club, thanked tho donors of the prizes on the club's behalf. Afternoon tea was served by the Misses Cole, Hawken and Sessions in the pavilion, which was decorated for the occasion with palms and tho club's colours, navy and gold. Mr. White congratulated the club on the position it had gained during the inter-club matches and said it was a record second to none that the Mont Lo Grand Club was unbeaten throughout tho season. After tea had been served Mr. White presented the trophies won by the mem bers for the club matches. Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Sawyers were the winners of the club doubles, while tho B singles were won by Mrs. Turner. A presentation was made to Mrs. .Robertson of a bronzo vase by tho members of tho inter-club team as a mark of their appreciation of her kindness in dispensing afternoon tea throughout the inter-club season. Mr. White also extended tho club's good wishes to Mrs. Stephenson and asked her to accept an antique bronze fruit stand from the members as a token of the esteem in which sho was held.
Mrs. Stephenson thanked tho members for their gift and wished the club every success in the future.
