RAILWAYMEN'S SOCIETY.
NEW NATIONAL PRESIDENT.
[by telegraph.—-own correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Monday.
A ballot of members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants was held recently for the purpose of electing the national president. Tho voting was tho preferential system and the first three counts resulted in the elimination of Messrs. A. J. Morison (Hillside), J. Elliott (Newmarket) and E. J. Dash (Timaru), leaving Messrs. J. Churchhouse (Carterton), M. Connelly (Dunedin) and S. Schofield. The last-named was eliminated after the fourth count, and the final result was:—Mr. Churchhouse, 3629; Mr. Connelly,, 3076.
