COALMINING DISPUTE.
EFFORT FOR SETTLEMENT.
(Received May 14. 12.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 13. The Mayor of Newcastle has communicated with the Prime Minister, Mr. Bruce, and the acting-Premier of New South Wales, Mr. E. A. Butleushaw, asking that another effort shall bo made to settlo the coalmining dispute before tho Royal Commission commences its long and tedious investigation.
The Mayor says lie believes the miners' representatives are in tho mood to come to terms which would enable the mines to be reopened almost immediately.
