ALLEGATION OF SLANDER.
CLAIM FOR £SOO DAMAGES. BUSINESS MEN AT LAW. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Friday. A claim for £SOO as damages for alleged slander was made by lan Meiklejohn Matheson, clothing manufacturer, of Wellington, against Henry Schneideman, merchant, also of Wellington, in the Supreme Court to-day. The case was adjourned until to-morrow after the evidence of plaintiff had been heard.
It wasi stated that defendant was to have purchased plaintiff's stock. He was alleged to have stated that plaintiff had wilfully over-stated the stock sheets in his own favour. Defendant denied the allegation and, alternatively, pleaded privilege.
