KIRK-WINDEYER CUP MATCH.

NEW ZEALAND TEAM CHOSEN

ITINERARY IN AUSTRALIA

Tho New Zealand Golf Council lias chosen Messrs. S. Morpeth, of Auckland, A. D. S. Duncan, of Wellington, T. 11. Horton, of Masterton, and Dr. K. Ross, of Dnnedin, to represent the Dominion in matches for the Kirk-Windeyer Cup, to be played on the Commonwealth links, Melbourne, on August 7, 8 and 9. The competition for the cup is an annual one, the last scries of matches having been played in Wellington. Members of the team will take part in the Victorian championship in Melbourne at tho end of July. If arrangements can be made they will also participate in tho Australian open championship meeting in Adelaide about the middle of August. For somo time New Zealand golfers have been looking forward with interost to tho publication of the names of tho players to represent tho Dominion in tho Kirk-Windeyer Cup match, writes Fairway. From the data now communicated it is plain that the New Zealand players will have a full programme of play during their visit to the Commonwealth. The Victorian State championship will provide a useful week of practice for our team and it is probable that they themselves will welcome this preliminary. The New Zealand players should bo in good form for tho Kirk-Windeyer Cup match which follows early in August, and they will, no doubt, take care to avoid any possible danger of becoming stale through overplay. Particularly interesting will be the fact that Sloan Morpeth will be making his first appearance in Australian golf. On both sides of the Tasman players and others will watch his progress keenly. Horton, Duncan and Ross all cfcd credit to themselves and to New Zealand when they played and won the cup there two years ago.

Each of the Australian States is eligible to compete for the Kirk-Windeyer Cup and no doubt more States will have their teams in the field. Two years ago New Zealand met Victoria in the final and defeated such formidable players as Ivo Whitton, Alex Russell, Headlam and Schlapp. New Zealand lost the cup to the New South Wales team last year.
