THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. DAY OF AVERAGE BUSINESS. Fair business was dome on the, Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. The demand for gilt-edged securities continued, with a sale of Auckland City debentures, 1936, 5 per cent., at £97, a considerable advance on the last sale a year or more ago. l'n banks Commercials of Australia again sold at 30s 2d, and New South Wales advanced 12s 6d to change liinds at £sl 17s 6d. There was further inqjuiry at £sl 12s 6d, compared with £sl 5s on Wednesday, sellers £52 ss. lu insurance South British were done at the current price, 63s 6d. In coal Grey Valleys eased 9d, selling at 23s 9d. Pukemi ros were easier, and Taupiris were firmer. In timber Kauris rose 6d, with a transaction at 18s 9d. More were sought at the price, sellers 19s 6d. In the miscellaneous section a sale of Robinson's Ice Creams at 23s 6d was the only business. The shares last sold in August last, at 22s 6d. In mining Ohinemuris sold 2d cheaper at Bs, with more offered at the price. Wailiis eased Id, selling at 13s 9d, at which .price sellers offered more, buyers 13s Bd. Mount Lyells sold 3d cheaper at 44s Gd. YESTERDAY'S SALES. The following sales took place : —City of Auckland debentures, 1936, 5 per cent., £97; Commercial Bank of Australia, 30s 2d; Bank of New South Wales, £sl 17s 6d; South British Insurance, 63s 6d; Grey Valley Coal, 23s 9d; Kauri Timber, 18s 9d; Robinson Ice Cream, 23s 6d; Ohinemuri, 8s; Waihi Mining, 13s 9d; Mount Lyell, 44s 6d. CLOSING QUOTATIONS.
