TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather forecast for hours from 7 a.m. to day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent, last evening:—Fair to cloudy weather is indicated in east coast districts and extreme northern areas. Unsettled conditions are expected elsewhere, especially in west coast and southern districts, with scattered heavy thunder showers, accompanied by hail at times. Westerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong and squally at intervals. Fairly rough seas on the west coast, mainly moderate elsewhere. The westerly depression has crossed the Dominion, the centre having passed in the south. Conditions should show a temporary improvement''shortly.

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The depression is now passing east of New Zealand. An anti-cyclone is moving on to Eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, backing gradually to southerly, reaching gale force in places from Cook Strait southwards. Seas rough on the west coast and later on the east coast soulh of Castlepoint. Elsewhere moderate. Strong south-west to southerly winds to gales in the eastern Tasman Sea, with rough seas. Weather changeable and somewhat squally, with scattered showers, more especially in coastal districts of the South Island. Cool temperatures, with some fiosts inland in the South Island.
