HOUSE BURNED DOWN.
FAMILY'S SERIOUS LOSS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] WHANGAREI. Wednesday. ■ A seven-roomed house at Tutukaka, owned by Mr. John W. Langland, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. Tho cause is a mystery. Mr. Langland is in Auckland and Mrs. Langland had been away visiting for about an hour and ahalf when Mr. 11, W. Pullman, who was riding along the Ngunguru Road, noticed smoke rising from tho dwelling. Running up the hill he arrived at the same time as the two Langland boys, who had been working nearby and had also noticed the fire. In an endeavour to save a valuable picture in the hall one of tho boys opened the front door, but was driven back by a gust of smoko and flame, and at that moment tho whole structure collapsed. The insurance was less than £2OO and included in the losses were a piano and radio set. The family of nine are left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
