Oxlade opposed the proposal, and said he was supported by tha New South Wales captain. Many thought, ho said, if the matches were limited to four days, the players would hurry, but this had never been proved to be the case. He pointed out that definite decisions had been reached in four matches during the past two seasons by playing the extra time on the fifth day. A former inter-State player, Mr. K L. Waddy, expressed opposition to an increase in the hours of play. Mr, B. 11. Bicknell said it was the duty of the association to give players every opportunity of -first-class cricket, and he favoured matches being played put.
