THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

FAIR BUSINESS YESTERDAY*

A fair volume of business was done on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. On a market firm for Government securities and local body debentures, Mount Albeit Borough debentures, 1963, 5£ per cent., were done at £lOl. In banks Australians of Commerce were in demand 6d dearer at 365, sellers 36s 3d. In insurance New Zealands were done at 46s 4|d and 46s 3d, compared with 46s 6d at the last transaction. More were wanted at 46s 3d, sellers 46s 9d. South British were 3d firmer.

In loan and agency the preference issue of Abraham and Williams had sale at 925, compared with 88s 6d at the last sale in February. In coal Grey Valleys again advanced, selling 3d dearer at 24s 6d. In gas the ordinary issue of Aucklands was Id cheaper with a sale at 24s 4d, with further inquiry at the price, and the contributing issue changed hands at 18s 3d, Id below the level of the last sale.

In the miscellaneous section, the preference issue of Electrolytic Zincs had sale 6d dearer than two months ago, at 36s 9d, and Farmers' Trading Company wore done 2d dearer at 8s 6d.

In mining Waihis eased 2d, selling at 13s lid. YESTERDAY'S SALES.. The following sales took place yesterday:—Mount Albert Borough debentures, 1963, per cent., £101; New Zealand Insurance, 46s 4£d, 46s 3d; Abraham and Williams (pref.), 925; Grey Valley Coal, 24s 6d; Auckland Gas, 24s 4d; contributing, 18s 3d; Electrolytic Zinc (pref.), 36s 9d; Farmers' Trading Company, 8s 6d; Waihi Mining, 13s lid.
