PRODUCING PORK.
A TON PER SOW. The results secured by some of the winners in State pork production contests in IS2B give us an inspiration to urge more farmers to become interested in the project for 1929, says an American paper.
The Minnesota contest was won by J. H. Nargang ol Winona County, who raised 92 from 10 sows and made them weigh 2281b5. each at 6 months of age. The toial production from the ten sows was 20,9761L5., or an average of 2,097.61b5. to the litter. The lowa contest was won by C. C. Verwers, of Decatur County, who produced 88 pigs from 10 sows and made them averass 244.4!.bs each at 6 months of age. The ten sows averaged to produce 2,1511b5. pork per littt> or a total of 21,5131b5. It is not so hard to £ick out the best litter and maKe it weigh a ton at 6 months of age but to make all the sows that farrow come through with a ton of pork each, that's different. Try it this year.
