PAPATOETOE AFFAIRS.
ALLOCATING PLAY AREAS. The Papatoetoe Town Board met on Tuesday evening, tho chairman, Mr. T. R. Smytheman, presiding. Tho clerk reported that the general account showed a debit of £1347. Tho foreman of tho Works Committee reported that tho foundation of tho re-cently-completed bitumen on Buckland Road was wet and unsatisfactory It was decided to confer with the Manukau County Council regarding the tiledraining of tho newly-laid portion of the road.
In response to a letter from the Papa toetoe School Committee, asking for the formation of tho footpath from tho school grounds to the Great South Road, tho foreman was instructor] to proceed with the work immediately. As tho result of a deputation from the Papatoetoe Rugby League Football Club it was decided to call a conference of representatives of tho League and Rugby codes, to be held this evening, to discuss tho allocation of playing areas in the district. Tho Reserves Committee reported that the Rugby Union Football Club, m laying out the playing areas, had damaged tho cricket pitch The clork was authorised to instruct the club to repair tho damaged area arid to alter tho boundary lines so as to leavo (ho cricket , pitch clear. It was agreed to combine with the Papatoetoo Chamber of Commerce in carrying out a schema < of treo planting in tho board's reserves.
