CAMBRIDGE MEETING.

CANDIDATES DISCUSSED. BY PICADOR. As yet Nelson Girl Jacks solidity, but she has registered several fair efforts in minor company and should bo capable of a bold showing in the weak class engaged in the Introductory Handicap. It is cjuite likely that she will start favourite.

Form at the recent country meetings suggests that To Ngutu will prove one of the most difficult to beat in the Intro ductory Handicap Te Ngutvi raced well at Claudelands and Thames and will only have to run up to form to be in the firing line at the.finish. One of the most promising young pacers in this province is the two-year-old Great Parrish. After losing a lost of ground at the start, he paced a fine race to finish fourth in the Ruakaka Handicap at Te Aroha and on that running promises to take a deal of beating in the Leamington Handicap. Off a 2m 18s mark. Scandal had no trouble in winning the mile saddle at Te Aroha and therefore ho is not badly treated on 2m 51s (2m 17s to the mile) in the President's Handicap. Scandal is a very solid pacer with the weight on top and should again race prominently at this meeting. When Peter Pirate won over two miles ut Thames he had little difficulty in registering 4m 42 2-5s and it is on the cards that he will do better shortly. He is an improving pacer and might make it merry for his opponents off the limit in the Cambridge Trotting Cup Since winning brilliantly at Claudelands Carmol has not met with much success, although he has registered several fair performances. Off a 4m 40s mark he finished second in the Te Aroha Trotting Cup recently, and as he is similarly handi capped in the Cambridge Trotting Cup, he appeals as one with a good chance in that event.

At her last start Derby Lynn registered 4m 38 l-5s in running second off a 4m 40s mark at Hawcra and if she reproduces that form she should be in the firing line at the finish of the Cambridge Trotting Cup, wherein she is handicapped on 4ra S9s The manner in which Akenehi won over a mile and a-half in 3m 3Gs at Alexandra Park in February was impressive and it is anticipated that she will shortly extend her record. Akenehi is nicely placed on 4m 51s in the Bardowie Handicap and will only have to repeat her form to go very close to winning For a horse that has not doiie much racing Dawdler has a fair record, and, although unplaced at his last start, he is likely to be in demand in the Farewell Handicap. Ho begins quickly and should bo able to display his speed to advantage in the class he will be meeting.

Though not good, Nella Dillon is very solid and usually paces a sound race when the clas3 is not too strong. She generally goes off the mark smartly and this should be a factor in her favour in the big field in the Farewell Handicap. Last year Lord Haldane only missed winning the Stewards' Handicap by a nose. On that occasion ho was handicapped on 3m 55s and thereforo he should possess good prospects off 3m 543 in the same class this year.
