AUCKLAND BANKRUPTCIES.
DECREASE LAST MONTH. YEAR'S TOTAL STILL AHEAD. There was a considerable decrease in the number of bankruptcies in the Auckland district in April, compared with March, the respective figures being 11 and 20. There were 10 bankruptcies in February. In April of last year there were seven. Following is a comparison of the bankruptcy returns for the first four months of this year and the two preceding years:— 1929. 1928. 1927. - January .. ..18 6 17 February .. .. 10 15 14 March . . . . 20 14 18 April . . . . 11 7 15 Totals .. 59 42 64 This year's figur.es show a considerable increase over those of last year. The reason is not apparent, the bankrupts representing many sections of the community.
