YEAR'S WORK OF SOCIETY.
OPEN PARK AREA WANTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, "Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Hamilton Beautifying Society was held last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. 11. Fow, presiding. The report stated that a considerable amount of work had been accomplished, including improvements to the Soldiers' Memorial Park and to various streets. Expenditure totalled £1698. There was a credit balance of £l4 and the Memorial Park fund was in credit £52.
The need for an open park area on the site of the present Courthouse in Victoria Street, which will shortly be transferred to new premises, was emphasised. It was decided to approach the incoming Borough Council on the matter. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. W. H. Paul; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. C. Fowler and J. H. Hammond; committee, Messrs. R. Parr, W. G. Pountney, F. W. Hare, E. Quick, H. E. Jacka, j. F. Strang, fl. Mercer and R. W. Forster; secretary, Mr. A. Beuth; treasurer, Mr. R. Parr.
