BOLSHEVIK EVIL.
TENTACLES ON EGYPT. POLICE DISCOVER RED PLOT. Times Cable. LONDON, April 29. The Cairo correspondent of the Times says the Egyptian authorities have discovered a serious attempt by Moscow Communists to establish in Egypt a Bolshevik propaganda centre. The effort was begun two years ago when the Soviet opened negotiations for the purchase of Egyptian cotton. It offered guarantees and formed a company called Textile Imports, Limited. The operations of this company at first appeared to be legitimate, but its purchases began to dwindle and the authorities became interested. They found reason to suspect the company's agents of being engaged in distributing propaganda in Egypt and in neighbouring countries.
Suspicion chiefly centred upon Alexis Vasilieff, who managed the agency. That suspicion was deepened when \'asilief£ dismissed a! real cotton expert and substituted for him a newcomer, Hugo Rudolf. .
The police watcfied Vasiiieff and Rudolf and secured sufficient evidence lo justify their arrest. The entire plot was then revealed, largely from documents in Rudolf's possession; including his diary.
