PORTRAITS OF PRESIDENTS. The Auckland Chamber of Commerce has only one portrait missing from its gallery of past-presidents—that of Mr. ,T. C. Firth, who was president of (he chamber in 1878. A portrait of Mr. Arthur Heather, who was president in 1877 and who now resides in England, was added to tho collection this week. The portrait gallery was started about four years ago. This year the organisation—which is older than the London Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary. The first records of the chamber arc dated 1869, while (he first annual report on record is dated 1877_. and is signed by Dr. (later Sir) John Logan Campbell' Many of the earliest records u-ere destroyed by fire some 20 years
