THE WAIKATO DIOCESE.
Sir, —J. have no intention of entering into n. public correspondence with Mr* Houchen. I merely write .to say thai; ho is probably correct when he says that the sum owing in the bishop's Memorial Chapel was £4OO, and not £6OO, as staled by me. J understood that at flip time —last July—tho whole jimonnt, £6OO, was owing. I feel that it is only fair to acknowledge this. I adhere absolutely to tho other statements mad 9, in my former letter, including the £IOOO as year's salary. I would also add a fifth condition laid down by his lordship, hut inadvertently overlooked by me, namely, tho vote was to be a unanimous, vxitc <)f the whole synod, I thank Mr. Houciirn for giving me this opportunity of confirming my former statements with this addition. I would also point out that, .-is Mr. Houchen is not a member of-synod and therefore was not present when the offer was made, I find his information is based on second-hand knowledge.
Pi. L. Connolly St. Mark's Vicarage, Te Aroha.
