NORTH SHORE TRANSPORT.
APPEAL AGAINST DECISION, FIRST CASE FOR BQARD. For the first time since it was set up the North Shore Transport Appeal Board will sit this week, an appeal having been lodged by Mr. R. Ingham against the decision of the No. 2 Licensing Authority to refuse him a licence, and the granting of a licence to Messrs. Lynch and Halliday, for the service between the Birkenhead Wharf and Albany. The hearing of the appeal has been fixed for Thursday at 2.15 p.m., at the Arbitration court room, Supreme Court. Buildings.
The members of the Appeal Board are Mr. Justice Frazer (chairman); Mr.' L. B. Campbell, district engineer of the Public Works Department, representing the Government; Mr. A. E. Greenslade, Mayor of Northcote, representing the local authorities in the transport district; and the Hon: E. W. Alison, M.L.C., representing the private owners of motor omnibuses engaged in the conduct of any motor omnibus service within the district.
Since the constitution of the No. 2 Motor Omnibus District in December, 1927, embracing the four boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna, Northcote and Birkenhead, and the Takapuna, Birkenhead and Pukeatua ridings of the' Waitemata County, the Devonport Borough Council has acted as the. licensing authority for that area. The Various decisions hav& until now been accepted as satisfactory by applicants.
