ANZAC DAY.
Sir,—There are two tilings in- connectiori with the above which are somewhat puzzling. Why were no flags shown inside tho Town Hall this Anzac' Day ? And why was there not a military band/- leading the returned soldiers' procession instead of only a local band, the military bands being relegated- to a back place in the parade ? Returned Soldier.
Sir, —I read "Abdn Hassan's" letter re« garding the trains. When these men do get to Auckland, after all their efforts, and march to the Town Hali and sit the servico out, it is about 1 o'clock, and when they come out it is almost impossible to get a cup of tea. Is this the way we are to keep the Anzac Day going? This year the weather was dreadful-. Nov.* these men each year are getting older and less able to face these hours of strain. May I suggest once more • a returned soldiers' day, and the collection go to provide a cold luncheon for all those who wish to meet old friends. It would mako all the difference in the world and this is what they well deserve. Wo have ;i Poppy Day, and for some unknown reason it is now made a house to house collection. Surely what I have just mentioned could bo well arranged. A.M.M.
