MORNING SUBURBAN TRAIN.
Sir, —A few months ago I wrote the traflic department of tho New Zealand Railways requesting it to change the time-table of the train leaving Ellerslie for Auckland at 8.9 a.m. to about 8.4 a.m. I received a reply stating that the guard had been instructed to find out the wishes of other passengers and that a large majority favoured the present time-table —that was to leave at 8.7 a.m. All well—quite right to consider the passengers, but what has the department to say now—when, without considering anybody, it gives notice that this train from Monday will leave ten minutes earlier, thus ruining its usefulness. Surely a change of Government does not take away the department's consideration of passengers ? We hear a lot about business in the railways, but is ignoring the wishes of passengers and driving them to travel on buses and trams business? The usual pasesngers prefer this train to leave not earlier than 8.5 a.m. from Ellerslie. It would be interesting to hear the department's reply to this and the reason of the change in their policy.
