LOCAL BODIES' ELECTION.
REPRESENTATIVES UNDER ACT.
As Ilia lesult of a special poll among members of 22 local bodies, extending from llelcnsville in tho north to Papakura in tlie south, the following have been elected to tho council of tho Auckland Institute and Museum: —Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman of the Manukau County Council; Mr. E. Aldridgc, Mayor of Devonport; Mr. R. B. Todd, Mayor of Otahuhu.
There wero 14 candidates for positions on the council, whose membership, under tho terms of the Auckland War Memorial Museum Maintenance Act, is to include three representatives of the Auckland City Council,'the Mayor of Auckland, and three representatives of the other local bodies contributing to tho upkeep of the museum. The outside local bodies' representatives arc elected by members of the contributing borough councils, road boards, town boards and county councils. Tho City Council will oppoint its representatives after the elections. Each member of an interested local body is entitled to one vote, tho election being under tho control of the secretary of tho Institute and Museum.
Details of tho voting for local bodies' representatives at the poll last Saturday are as follows :
Mr. F. M. Waters, 64 votes; Mr. E. Aldridge, 60; Mr. 11. B. Todd, 44; Mr. A. E. Greensladc, 35; Mr. G. O'Halloran, 32; Mr. W. Jj. Titchencr, 28; Mr. G. E. Tansley and Mr. 11. G. Speight, each 27; Mr. T. R. Smytheman, 24; Mr. K. W. Aimer, 21; Mr. J. P. Hoot.On, 19; Mr. G. E. Smordon, 15; Mr. P. Floyd, 12; Mr. J. J. Toy, 4.
