[l. "The New Zealand Herald," in a leader on the City Elections, says with regard to the present Mayor, that his term of office has been " absolutely without inspiration or drive in policy." 2. " The Auckland Star," dealing with the Mayoral Election, says: " Mr. Vaile has the support of many prominent business men, who look to him to bring to the affairs of the city the necessary business experience, imagination and energy .... if they (the electors) are not prepared to take the risk involved in electing a Labour Mayor, they should vote for Mr. Vaile." 3. " The Sun," in a leader on the City Council Election, says: " If, on the other hand, the prospective steep expenditure merely succeeds in returning the majority of the old brigade to mark time under the same uninspired leadership, the result will seem like another grievous waste of public money." 4. We say with regard to Mr. H. E. Vaile that his published platform shows a definite businesslike policy, and he has driving force, and is undoubtedly a business man. 5. Mr. H. E. Vailc's committees unhesitatingly claim in the City's best interests that a new Mayor should be untrammelled by previous association with the City Council, so that former mistakes of the Council may be remedied and fresh ideas brought forth for the future benefit of the City. 6.
