An enjoyable dance was given by Mrs. J. C. Montcfiore for Miss Rose Lord, who is leaving for a visit to England. Mrs. Montefiore, with her daughters, received the guests wearing a frock of black crepe do chine relieved with pale pink. Miss Alice Montefioro wore a frock of green figured crepe de chine, and Miss Beatrice Monteliore cyclamen crepo do chine. Miss Rose Lord was in a frock of black panne velvet, and Mrs. Lord wore brown georgette. During tho evening Mr. 11. Armstrong sang, and thero were two competitions, the winners of which were Mrs. Lord and Mr. D. Wallace. Supper was served in the dining room, which was decorated with pale pink dahlias. Among tho guests present were; —Mesdanies Lord, L. Kay, A. Pollard, Misses M. Quin, K. McGovern, E. Peake, E. Bowden, L. Bray, M. Storey, A. Iloustan, R. Lord, K. Wallace, 11. Civic, Messrs. E. Storey, 11. Bent, F. Macklow, E. Bent, D. Wallace, D. Storey, B. Hague, It. Wallace, J. Coyne, V. Pollard, M. Rcnnic, 11. Armstrong, J. Baxter, J. Thompson. Tho many frionds of Mrs. R. Dawson organised a surprise bridge party at her •■esidenco on Saturday evening. Mrs. Oilphant was the winner with the highest score. After supper Mr. H. Mandeno, on behalf of the gathering, mado a small gift to Mrs. Dawson. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. If. Mandeno, Sir. and Mrs. A 11. Storey, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Storey, Mr and Mrs. A. Storey, Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain, Mr. and Mrs. Oliphant, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McGovern, Mr. and Mrs. C G Downcs; Mesdames do L. Peake, Hawkins, J. North. Potts, Dunn, F. Bowden, Reese, Griffiths, Misses Empson, Ilawke, Elliott, Mandeno, McLcod, Mr. Mrs. Blundell and Miss Wallace, of lo Awamutu, were hostesses at a tennis afternoon to bid farewell to Miss R. Lord, who is shortly leaving for a visit to England. Games of tennis, target croquet, and clock golf were played. Tho winners of tho putting wero Miss Focke and Mr. Macklow and the target croquet Mrs. Oliphant and Mr. .1. Coyne. Mrs. Blundell was wearing a red jersey velour jumper suit. Miss YYallaeo wore apple green crepe do chine and cream cont and Mi3s Lord a cream sports frock and coat. Tliosn present wore: Mrs. J. Oliphant and file Misses Focke, McGovern. Quin, A. Personal. Mrs. Rickif, sen., has returned from a visit to Wellington. Sho was accompanied by Miss Avis Rickit. Mrs. A. 11. Storey has returned from a visit to Auckland.
Mrs. Raymond-Jones is spending a' few days in Matamata.
