TENNIS DAY.

"President' 3 Day" of the Pukeroa Tennis Club, held at tho club's courts in Mountain Road on Saturday afternoon, made a happy close to the club's summer season and took the form of a "Yankee tournament." A largo number of members were present, and tho day being ideal for play, tho games were keenly contested. They resulted in a win for Mrs. M. Henry and Mr. L. Sims. Tho runners-up woro Miss K. Coleman and Mr. B. Mawson. At the close of tho day members and their friends were the guests of the president, Mr. Gordon Ilardy, at a tea served in the pavilion, which was decorated for the occasion in the club's colours, black and red

Tho opportunity was taken for the presentation by the president of trophies won during tho season. The honours went to Mr. P. 11. Jones as champion of tho club; Miss A. Baster and Mr. G. Pardington, winners of tho Bruco handicap; Miss M. Finch and Mr. H. Connor, winners of tho McCoy handicap; Mr. R. Bailey and Mr. P. If. Jones, winners of tho men's doubles; Mrs. Annan and Mrs. Christian winners of the ladies' doubles. ' In tho evening Mr. M. Henderson and Mr. F. Brewin, vice-presidents of tho club, expressed their pleasure at tho high standard & tennis to bo found among tho members, Mr. Henderson pointing out that whilo tho "C" and ( .'D" grado pennants of tho Auckland Lawn Tennis Association wero proudly displayed by the club, thero were still tho pennants bearing tho two preceding letters of which ho would like to seo the club tho holders.
