REPLY MADE TO CRITICS.

DAIRY COMPANY AFFAIRS. PAYMENTS FOR BUTTER-FAT. [ny TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 HAMILTON. Sunday. In a lotter addressed fo shareholders of tho New Zealand (/>uporative Dairy Company, Limited, tho general manager, Mr. C. J. Parlane, has replied to a circular issued by the Shareholders' Association. Mr. Parlane states that he has been directed by his board to reply to tho incorrect and misleading statements which tho circular contained. "In paragraph two of the circular," states Mr. Parlane, "a definite statement is made that for tho past five years our suppliers should have received 2d per lb. more for butter-fat supplied to our company than has been the case. Tho value of such a statement may easily bo determined by our suppliers when wo say that to pay a further 2d per lb. on all butter-fat received for butter-making during tho past fivo years, wo should require a sum almost equal to tho total manufacturing cost for the same period. "Taken on tho figures for last season, 2d per lb. on butter-fat for butter-making would amount to £403.284. The total costs were £405,388. Thus, in order to pay 2d per lb. on butter-fat out of costs, it would be necessary for us to manufacture our butter at practically no cost at all." A referenco to general unrest anion r shareholders is emphatically denied by Mr. Parlane.
