DEATHS OF DOCTORS.
TRAGEDIES IN EGYPT. FORMER MELBOURNE MAN. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. CAIRO. April 26. The English colony at Cairo was shocked by the news that an Australian, Dr. Frank Colo Madden, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Egyptian University, was found dead in his home with a revolver in his hand. The sensation of Dr. Maddens death was increased by t lie fact that it follows the similar tragedy of Dr. Thomson, president of the Quarantine Board of Alexandria.
Dr. Frank Colo Madden was born in Melbourne in 1873, and educated at the Scotch College and Melbourne University. He studied later at St. Mary's Hospital, London, where ho had a distinguished career. lie was for some time a house surgeon at Melbourne Hospital, and later resident medical oilicer at tlie Hospital for Sick Children, Ormond SI rep t, London. He wont to Cairo in 1808. Ho served with tho Egyptian Forces in the war. Ho had published various articles, mainly on tropical medicine.
