CALCUTTA JUTE MARKET.

TREND OF PRICES. The raw jute market, at Calcutta was reported by Hoare, Miller and Company, Limited, to be very quiet at tho beginning of March. Receipts at tho . mills and exports, including a carry-over U, the end of last season, amounted to 7,978.000 bales, and 500,000 bales arrived at Calcutta, but were unsold. Thcso figures approximately correspond to those for tho same period last season, hut, as the crop is smaller, stocks in the growing districts will be lighter (hail they wore at this time last year. Thero was little export demand, and tho market at tho time of tho ■ report was very quiet, and mills wore showing little interest in it. Tho demand for manufactured jute goods in February was slack, and prices showed a downward tendency.
