Hamilton Mayoral Election, jf To the Electors, Ml LADIES ANO gentlemen— You are probably aware that PaPim. vy '.. -I will again Lie a Candidate for the hh approaching: Elections. Ono like myself, who has already breasted the troubled sea of public business, must perforce content himself with facts. It is now TWENTY-THREE YEARS since I was first elected to the Hamilton Borough Council. More than TWENTY YEARS ago 1 was DeputyMayor. I have beeen Mayor since 1010, with two intervals of one year each. It is not thus In my power to crave indulgence for mistakes on the ground of inexperience. Nor do I wish to.make such a plea. I believe that if I have made mistakes I have benefited by them. I have learnt not a little (luring these years and my experience should be of some value to the Borough. During my term of oftlce as Chief Magistrate of Hamilton many important works have been carried out to the satisfaction of its citizens. The town has seen really good Roads substituted lor very bad ones, and a satisfactory Ughting System for a very poor one. Other large schemes have been carried out successfully. Moreover, wisdom and prudence in administration have- been imparted to every branch of the work or the .Borough. For the rest, in all public dealings I have striven to reflect credit, not only on my olTlfe. but also on the town and the citizens whom l have the honour to represent. I have striven in all things to take a broad view. I liavo never stood for a party or a faction. No particular district, social coterie or privileged individual lias swayed mc against the interests or gie 'community as a whole. Should you honour me once more by returning me to office, my policy will ho as it has ever been —to labour in all things for the interests of the whole borough and all its citizens, and to uphold, ihe dignity of the high position. JOHN R. FOW.
