SUCCESSES AND FAILURES. A report of (lie lowa pork production contest for 1928 shows that the most successful contestant averaged to produce 21511b. of pork from 10 sows; (lie least successful contestant pot only 734111. from each of 22 sows in 180 days. From the report of a similar contest in Minnesota it is learned that the winner produced 209711). of pork per litter of 10 sows; tho lowest record was 6311b. average from 19 sows. One outstanding difference was the number of pigs raised per litter. Averaging tho two winners, nine pigs were raised her litter, whereas the two lowest producers averaged only 5.92 pigs per litter. Jt is seasonable to suggest that correct feeding of the pregnant sows together willi adenuato preparation for taking care of the pigs when tlicv arrive have nil import,ant beiiring on the number of pigs raised per litter.
