ANZAC DAY.

gif ( —Would you allow me space to en-> ter an emphatic protest against the running of a cinema show on Anzac Day. This was done in my district, and was. strange to say, fairly well patronised. Surely, when all tho country was paying its respects to the honoured dead, the proprietors of this show could foigo their small profit. The children were givfn a holiday, and, I presume, were told of. tho reason, ani then were taken to the p <- tures. If tho parents are so lacking ir> respect, how are the children to ever understand the sacrifices that were made ? 1 would suggest that the Government make tho holding of any entertainment on Anzac Day absolutely illegal.- Anzac.

R; r —Through this little country district trains run on Sunday and Good Friday, but on Anzac Day, when people might use them to attend a memorial service, theio aro not any. Many old soldiers, inrlm.ing myself, do not own cars, and mmo than one real Anzac lias lived m this district for nine years and never bwn offered a ride to the nearest scrvicwhich is some eight miles distant, wonder if any of those people living m centres where services are held, and who have cars, ever think of the old .soldiers in outlying districts? Surely while, pay* ing respect to our great dead somo thought is due the living. Ihen, again, should not Anzac Day be an occasion tor those families who suffered parting and loss in the Great War to be, together' Many would like to be, but .ire prevented because there are not any trains to travel bv While holding respect such as only an Anzac can feel for all things pertaining to Anzac Day, I see no more sin in running trains on that day than on our Lord's Day.
