RECOVERY OF KING.

MESSAGES OF THANKS.

GRATITUDE TO FRANCE. DEEP IMPRESSION MADE. (Received April 2d. 5.5 p.m.) Times Cable. LONDON. April 23. Tho Paris correspondent of the Times says the British Embassy has issued a communique stating that King George has taken tho opportunity of St. George's Day to thank tho British people for the sympathy shown during his illness. The British Ambassador, Sir William Tyrrell, has been instructed to take the same opportunity of expressing on behalf of His Majesty to tho French nation his high appreciation of all the proofs of sympathy so generously offered by Frenchmen of all classes. The King' 3 own message has deeply impressed Franco. Tho Figaro describes it as distinguished by true greatness. It adds: "Tho letter contains accents of nobility and ideas of breadth and loftiness to which we, alas, aro too little accustomed. That such speech and thought should come from the head of the British State is not. a mere chance. It is due to the fact that this Slate, situated as wo know it to be, is also gifted with a temperament rich in nobility and greatness. The British Throne preserves in tho new Europe tho power of ancient things."
