THE CITY MISSION.

REVIEW OF-YEAR'S WORK. Tho annual meeting of the Auckland Citv Mission was held on Wednesday evening, the city missioner, Rev. Jasper Calder, presiding over a large attendance. It was stated that money raised by concerts, bazaars and tho shop was used to pay the mortgage on the building, but all donations and subscriptions were spent ill direct social work, such as food, vegetables. clothing, blankets, firing, children's camp, Police Com-, work and tho medical clinic. Ihe chairman announcod that a wellknown businoss man had promised £IOO for the winter appeal if foui dthers would donate the same amount. Of this £3OO had been promised, but difficulty had been experienced in raising the last £IOO The R-;v. Charles Chandler presented a report on his prison chaplaincy work. Apart, fro-n church services he visited the prison two or throo times a week and the number of interviews totalled just on 800 for the year.
